Laser Therapy is a non-invasive, safe, and effective treatment method where light is used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and promote wound healing and soft tissue repair. Laser Therapy is approved for the treatment of several conditions.

Here at Akridge Chiropractic & Laser Pain Relief, we use the top-of-the-line Summus Medical Laser (formerly known as K-Laser). With laser therapy, most patients experience some levels of pain relief after their first treatment!

Conditions Laser Therapy Can Treat

Rotator Cuff Injuries

The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that surround the shoulder joint, keeping the head of your upper arm bone firmly within the shallow socket of the shoulder. A rotator cuff injury can cause a dull ache in the shoulder, which often worsens when you try to sleep on the involved side.

According to the Mayo Clinic, rotator cuff injuries occur most often in people who repeatedly perform overhead motions in their jobs or sports. Examples include painters, carpenters, and people who play baseball or tennis. The risk of rotator cuff injury also increases with age.

Laser therapy has been approved to help treat rotator cuff pain and injuries.

Depression

The Mayo Clinic states that depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you may feel as if life isn’t worth living.

More than just a bout of the blues, depression isn’t a weakness and you can’t simply “snap out” of it. Depression may require long-term treatment. But don’t get discouraged. Most people with depression feel better with medication, psychotherapy or both.

Depression can be treated with laser therapy. Preliminary evidence suggests that laser therapy “appears to be a promising treat for depression that is safe and well-tolerated.”

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain can come in many forms and affect many areas of the body. From severe neck pain, to lingering low back pain, and everything else you can imagine. Although many try to treat chronic pain with a non-stop dosing of medicine, laser therapy is a proven method to help treat chronic pain.

This report states that “higher laser dose interventions” yield good results for relief of chronic pain. Another study reports that for acute pain, “laser therapy provided an immediate pain relief effect.

Many other conditions have been approved to be treated with laser therapy. If you are experiencing these, or other conditions, please contact us to schedule an in-person consultation.

I’ve been to several chiropractors and Dr Akridge is definitely the best chiropractor in Kennewick. The level of detail at their office is unmatched. They don’t just throw you on a bed and crack your back like some places do. They take the time to understand the issue and give great advice and several different options and non-drug solutions to pain. I’ll definitely be back to try the laser therapy for pain relief.
